PMI-ACP Exam Format

PMI Agile Certified Practitioner (PMI-ACP) is a brand new certification offered by PMI.
The PMI-ACP certification is going to be introduced on the third quarter of 2011. It has been targeted towards those organizations and individuals that are practicing agile on their projects.

PMI Agile Certified Practitioner (PMI-ACP) will demonstrate further professional ability in the field of agile project management.

Although the certification is very new and quite few information is available but in this blog post we will try to cover PMI-ACP Exam Format i.e: exam questions, duration, result and the knowledge that you will be tested on in the exam.

PMI-ACP Exam Format

120 Questions:

There are 120 questions on the exam, but not every question score is counted towards the last result. 20 of the questions are considered as pre test questions. Hence your final score result will be based on the 100 correct answers.

3 Hours:

There are 3 hours to complete the exam, but before the clock ticking starts, there are 15 minutes prior of the 3 hours given to you and I stress that those 15 minutes, which are not counted in the 3 hours should be very well utilized.

Pass/Fail:

The result will be either pass or fail and you will not be notified of the actual answers that you score either right or wrong. Rather you will be given a printed sheet but in this sheet besides pass/fail, you will be given a domain score that you have achieved in each of the domains.

Domains and Score:

The domain scores are basically your strongest and weakest areas in the shape of Proficient, moderately proficient and below proficient, that you have achieved in each area.

I hope PMI-ACP Exam Format that been clear to you by now, If there’s something that is not clear, please feel free to comment or ask in the Discussion Forum.

Thank you for teh useful post, I was just wondering, is there a specific book by PMI to study for the exam?
I only found a list of recommended books to read from, so should I read teh 10 books to be able to pass the exam?

      Hey Nevine,

When PMI launched Agile Certification, I was very keen to take the exam and be at least the first person in my country to be agile certified. But later, thought to wait for a while and let the dust settle down.

I think you should wait abit as the exam is not yet clear to many people and any good book recommendation at this time will be too optimistic.

Although pmi have started accepting applications but the exam will be in september, I guess. So wait for some lessons learned and book reviews.

But if you force me and ask for any book recommendation, then i will check it out for you.

Books are very good friends and I do recommend to read books, infact i have more than 50 Project Management books in my library. But

P.S: Alot of aspirants make this mistakes by reading all materials, books, tutorials, articles and get themselves confused. I wrote an article over it as well, please check below.
PMI certifications are abit tricky, so you need to read a book that can guide you with those tricks.

    Hello,
this is a nice short post about PMI-ACP.
I personally passed the exam half a year ago and though it was much easier than pmp exam (in fact, well, much easier) – I’m really happy with that.
It took me about 1 month for preperation.
I used the Andy Crowe book for the first read.
Also I recommend using free 120 PMI-ACP Exam Questions test
    from ScaleStudy.com
